The location for today's mission blitz was Cross in the City. The man who started Cross in the City felt called by God to create a place for kids who grow up in gang infested neighborhoods in Pasadena to attend school, learn life skills, and most importantly, learn about God. The facility is in really bad shape and needs lots of work!!
We arrived at Cross in the City around noon, and started out by doing a prayer tour, where we read Scripture passages and prayed over different rooms and sections of the facility. Then we had lunch and spread out to start our projects.
There were lots of projects to sign up for; landscaping was the project we chose. Of course, when we signed up for this last week, we did not think it was going to be so cold outside, but oh well...what can ya do.
Our task was to weed, trim, and add mulch to some bushes along the front of the building. When we finished we helped sort some carpet pieces, and finished up by painting parking lot lines.
It was hard work and my hands were sooooo sore, but it was worth it and we had a great time! Honestly, I want to send a movie to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, because Cross in the City has sooo much work to be done on it. We could just tell them, we don't need them to build a house, but we do need them to build a new school, gym, and church for Cross in the City. Wistful thinking....
Here are some pics from our day!
